Artists’ Residency– Ofoase Kokobeng, Ghana
13TH July – 26th July 2014
The 2014 Artists Residency is self/member-funded and the second of its kind. This year’s edition invites 15 Ghanaian visual artists to the Pope John Paul II Formation/Training Centre at Ofoase Kokobeng, off the Kumasi –Obuasi Road, to experiment, collaborate and share ideas. From 13th to 26th July 2014, critical appraisal will complement concentrated time for creative work, idea exchange and readings and discussions on contemporary art.
During this period artists find an appropriate private space within the environment to work, share living space and have meals together. However, they will be responsible for their travel and material expenses.
A distinguished critic will be invited to participate as Critic-in-Residence, who will lead discussions, do a presentation and teaching on contemporary art issues and make individual studio/space visits,
During the evenings of the second week artists would have the opportunity to share their works with participants through presentations and subsequent discussions.
The program ends with Open Studio/space Day, during which participants and the general public visit individual work spaces for interaction. The coordinators anticipate exhibiting the outcomes of the Residency on the KNUST campus some time later.
